Senior Pastor:  Rev. Lynwood Wells is a Newport News native, who grew up at Hilton Baptist Church and is a graduate of Warwick High School ('73)  He then attended Oral Roberts University, Tulsa. OK where he graduated with degrees in Theology and Communications.  He continued at ORU with his graduate studies in the Masters in Theology program, while teaching on the undergraduate level as a Graduate Fellow scholarship recipient.  He later also received his Juris Doctorate in Law as a member of the Charter Class of Regent University School of Law.  Lynwood has enjoyed successful practices in law in OK and VA, served as pastor of Calvary Temple, Allentown, PA and Administrator of Allentown Christian School,(1987-1992), worked as Executive Producer for the Oral Roberts Television Ministries, and traveled extensively in the US and Internationally in evangelistic and mission outreaches affiliated with the Oral Roberts Ministries.  Lynwood returned in 1999 to his home church as a member, and was then later called to become Senior Pastor (2001).  Lynwood is single with cats, and currently a resident of Hampton, Virginia. 

 

 

Associate Pastor for Family Ministries, Education, and Youth:  Rev. Harald Aadahl is a native of Williamsburg, VA with his home church being James River Baptist. Graduated from James Blair High School ('73), and Thomas Nelson in Business Management ('75). While at TNCC he followed the call to ministry, which led him to complete his B.A. degree in Bible and Theology from the Moody Bible Institude in Chicago ('79).  During those years, he meet his future wife Mary Cottrell (William and Mary '80) and was married shortly after her graduation.  After a year or so living in Toano, Virginia and then helping plant the Croaker Mission, (now the York River Baptist Church), they moved to Fort Worth, Texas and received Master's in Religious Education Degree from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary ('83).  Harald has been in local church ministy most of his life and vocationally since 1984. Rev. Aadahl was ordained ('85) at and served at FBC Garner, North Carolina, later, Temple Baptist and Orcutt Baptist both in Newport News, Virginia.  He is presently Associate Pastor and Minister of Family Life, Education and Youth. He came to minister at Hilton Baptist in November, 1998.  He loves the local church and ministry, as well as being involved in National, State and Association Missions and local community service projects.  Harald and Mary have a son and two daughters, college to elementary school.
